Dr. David Adebimpe, DSc, PhD. founder and CEO of Polymath Interscience, is a research scientist, philosopher and inventor who uses his cross-disciplinary skills and expertise to solve unique problems that require the convergence of different scientific and technical disciplines and philosophies. With over 30 years of combined experience as a biochemistry, nanotechnology and organic chemistry professor and a guest scientist at NIST and NASA, he is a subject matter expert and world leader in the application of odorology and scent-engineering with the mechanics of mammalian olfaction to the development of scent-detection training aids and practical tools that enhance the olfactory capabilities of operational search-and-detect K9s.
David developed the first-and-only official inert replacements to the United States Marines’ Canine Kits for Explosives Detection. He also invented the world’s first non-hazardous training aids for the scent detection of a wide range of illicit and hazardous materials such as TATP, HMTD, Dynamite, PETN/ETN, Nitrocellulose, Nitroglycerin, EGDN, PCP, MDMA, Tetryl and Fentanyl, as part of the “ScentLogix™-K9” ScentKit Collection, which currently stands as the broadest collection of operationally-tested non-hazardous scent training aids ever produced for the imprinting and scent-training of working dogs in the detection of explosives, narcotics, guns, mines, ammunition, and currency.
Based on his knowledge of odor and olfaction David serves as a consultant to numerous agencies worldwide, including the Department of Defense (USA, India, Mexico), the Federal Police (Brazil), The Department of Justice (Australia), Department of Customs (Indonesia, Singapore, Kazakhstan), in matters pertaining to detector-K9 scent kit utility, training and certification protocols. As a result of user ratings and K9 performances, ScentLogix™ ScentKits are now regarded as the “gold standard” of training aids and the world’s first scent-reference materials for working dog imprinting, maintenance training and certification activities. Based on the consistency in performances of these explosives and narcotics training aids, they are now being considered as logically superior replacements to using real materials as training aids & certification standards, within numerous elite military, law enforcement and private working dog programs worldwide.
David’s qualifications include a Doctor of Science degree, an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Materials Science and Chemical Engineering, and a B.Sc. with Honors in Biochemistry with Psychology. Additionally, he has attended a number of FBI and US-DOJ certification programs in explosives detection and terrorist preparedness. He is a member of IABTI, a founding member of “SCENT-SOURCE” and serves on numerous national and international advisory boards. His current professional interests include “learning the art of applying a scientific knowledge of odor, scent engineering and biological olfaction, towards (i) the fabrication of electronic noses, and (ii) improving the portfolio of practical educational tools, utility scents, and training standards for the detector K9 community.”

This class is formatted to working K9 teams – there should be a basic understanding of K9 handling of the attendees. This course offers a basic understanding of the E-collar, its use and development in the Police and Military K9 Communities. An outline of this class can be provided upon request. It will cover the beginning foundation work of E-collar Training as well as advanced training. Direction and control will be covered as well as how to use the E-collar in the real world (off-leash searching). Pros and cons will be covered as well as the E-collars development over the years. Search techniques and Department policy issues will be covered (find & bark vs. handler control – what is the industry standard). E-collar and real world events will be discussed and given as examples.
Topics for discussion and learning can be added to this class, such as off-leash
searching with detection canines. Once again that will depend on your direction and the audience. Tactical K9 has developed off-leash search techniques detection K9’s utilizing the E-collar with outstanding results. The canine works both on and off-leash searching large open areas for narcotics, bombs and weapons, in much the same way
an off-leash controlled patrol canine works.
Note: We have also developed instruction for tactical tracking – the need for off-leash control will still be emphasized during this instruction. The ability to cut your canine loose when appropriate should always be an option should the situation dictate. The need for hands free bite release and recall should also be an option.

This course will provide comprehensive training that surpasses the fundamentals covered in a basic first aid class. While veterinary care remains essential, there are instances in the field where immediate access to such care is limited. In 2023, the Officer Down Memorial Page
reported 26 K9 Line of Duty Deaths, underscoring the critical need for handlers to be equipped to address medical emergencies promptly. Designed to equip handlers with the necessary knowledge and skills, this course aims to empower them to manage various medical crises
concerning their K9s until professional veterinary assistance can be secured. Irrespective of experience level, this class offers invaluable insights and practical techniques that every handler can benefit from. This will be an 8 hour course utilizing classroom instruction, as well as
practical hands-on training.
What you will learn in this course:
Required Equipment:
Proper attire and equipment are crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of training sessions. Handlers should wear appropriate clothing for outdoor training sessions, regardless of weather conditions. Please bring water and bowls for your dogs, along with a leash and muzzle if necessary. Additionally, handlers are encouraged to bring their first aid kit to class and we will
evaluate the contents and address any deficiencies.
Danny Nunez
The focus of the criminal patrol class is to detect, interdict and disrupt the flow of illicit drugs, terrorists, human trafficking and illicit US currency associated with criminal activity on the nation’s highways. The uniformed officer is the first line of defense in protecting national security when criminals are most vulnerable: while in transit on America’s highways. This class for criminal patrol provides officers with training on criminal interdiction and information on concealment methods that consist of false compartments within several types of vehicles. Recent and emerging concealment trends will also be covered.
John M. Peters, Attorney at Law
Dave Reese
Dan Reiter
The training protocol presented in this class will show trainers and handlers how Dan Reiter conditions a strong hunting behavior to odor source, and a dog that stays loaded in drive when on point.
Dan will cover everything from foundation training, to off-leash searches and directional sends. Whether you are a current user of the K9 Behavior Shaping Device (BSD) or not, this class will have plenty of information to get you thinking outside the box!
